Computing Slice-by-Slice Measurements

In addition to the global measurements available for bone morphometric indices, per slice measurements are available in the Slice Analysis dialog (see Slice Analysis Panel and Measurements). Slice analysis results can be added to reports, if required.

Click the Start Slice Analysis button on the Generating the Report page to open the Slice Analysis dialog, shown below.

How to Compute Slice-by-Slice Measurements
  1. Select the 2D view of the image data or region of interest that you want to analyze.

You can adjust the orientation of the view, if required (see Creating Oblique Views).

  2. Click the Start Slice Analysis button on the Generating the Report page, as shown below.

The Slice Analysis dialog appears in the workspace.

Note The Slice Analysis dialog is linked to the view from which is was accessed. This linking is indicated with the color-coded bar at the top of the panel. If required, you can open multiple panels to directly compare measurements between different views.

Note Check the Add Slice Analysis results to report if you want to include the slice-by-slice measurements in your Bone Analysis report.

  3. Select the image or region of interest that you want to analyze in the Object studied drop-down menu, as shown below.

  4. Choose a mask in the Mask drop-down menu if you want limit the computations to the sub-volume defined by a region of interest, optional.

Note Check the Use inverted mask option to compute measurements outside the selected mask.

  5. Select the measurement(s) that you want to compute (see Per Slice Measurements for Images and Per Slice Measurements for ROIs).
  6. Click the Compute button at the bottom of the panel.

The value(s) extracted from the current image slice, as well as the corresponding minimum and maximum values that were extracted from the selected object as whole, appear in the measurement table and are plotted in the top section of the panel. You can scroll through the slices by dragging the marker that appears on the plot, as shown below.

Note Refer to Plot Tools for information about saving an image of the plot, changing the formatting of the plot, as well as exporting the results in the CSV file format.
